The Cross River State Police Command has confirmed the arrest and detention of a special adviser to Governor Bassey Otu on media, Awade Friday, over his alleged connection to the “sudden” and unnatural” death of a social media influencer identified as Mr Abel.

The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eitokpah Sunday Akata, confirmed the arrest to journalists in Calabar on Friday morning.

Akata said, “He is under our custody in State CID. He is helping us with an ongoing investigation.”

Awade is known as a popular radio programme host in Calabar and was appointed as a special adviser to the governor.

He has also been actively mobilising support for the re-election of Governor Bassey Otu for a second term.
