The Zamfara State All Progressives Congress, APC, and Youth Forum have denounced as political opportunism Governor Dauda Lawal’s purported attempts to ally himself with President Bola Tinubu.

Musa Adams, the chairman of the forum, charged in a statement on Tuesday that the governor’s polarizing approach to governing has weakened the state’s cohesiveness.

He claimed that Lawal, a PDP member, had been courting the APC by inviting its leaders to public events, a move that the forum rejected as being dishonest.

“Zamfara APC remains strong and poised to deliver Asiwaju again in 2027, Insha Allah,” Adams said.

Along with expressing displeasure toward APC leaders, particularly since the appointment of former governor Bello Matawalle as Minister of State for Defense, he accused Lawal of ignoring rural people struggling with poverty and insecurity.

“We do not support Dauda Lawal’s involvement with the APC or President Tinubu’s campaign,” Adams added.

According to information obtained by the ZINGTIE, the APC presently controls five of the seven House of Representatives seats and two of the state’s three Senate seats.

The youths insisted that Governor Lawal’s backing is not necessary for the APC to succeed, even as they called for federal assistance to address the state’s problems.
