On their wedding night, a newlywed man discovered that his wife had a large debt of a whooping N245 million. He took to social media to seek advice.
The heartbroken husband, who had only recently tied the knot with his partner, conveyed his shock at the unanticipated expense.
Under the username “Throwaway4DebtHell,” the anonymous Reddit member shared a description of his wife’s shocking revelation on their first night of marriage.
He described the substantial debt his wife had accrued, which was $160,000 (N245 million), and that she now expected him to assist in repaying.
He was shocked by this abrupt disclosure and felt obligated to help her pay off her obligations even though he had personal assets of $30,000 and investments totalling $120,000.
The husband expressed remorse that he would have reconsidered marriage if he had known earlier about his wife’s financial difficulties and discussed his dilemma about how to handle the matter.
