In light of TikTok’s possible ban in the US, American rapper Meek Mill has made an offer to purchase the app.
Recall that in April 2024, President Joe Biden signed legislation requiring the Chinese owner of TikTok to sell the platform or shut it down by January 19 at the latest.
Shortly after CEO Shou Zi Chew’s meeting with President-elect Donald Trump in December, TikTok filed an appeal of the statute with the US Supreme Court.
Trump had disclosed during a press conference that he had a “soft spot” for TikTok, adding that his government will assess the app’s future and the prospect of a ban.
Meek Mill has stated his plan to purchase the platform as ByteDance awaits the Supreme Court’s ruling over the future of their app.
“Sell TikTok to me,” he wrote via X.
“If they cut off tik tok we going x and Fanbase.”
