Joe Igbokwe, a prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has extended an olive branch to former ministers who left the party, urging them to return to the APC fold.
Igbokwe specifically appealed to Rotimi Amaechi, former Minister of Transportation; Kayode Fayemi, former Minister of Solid Minerals; and Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior, to rejoin the party.
In a post on X, Igbokwe expressed his discomfort at seeing these prominent figures aligning with Atiku Abubakar, a former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that it made him feel like vomiting.
According to Igbokwe: “Good morning everyone especially our APC faithful supporters across Nigeria. I want HE Amaechi , HE Fayemi, HE Aregbeshola, HE Kwankwaso and others to move back to APC. Seeing them in Atiku’s camp makes me to want to vomit.”
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has taken drastic measures against Rauf Aregbesola, expelling him due to alleged anti-party activities. Aregbesola, a two-term former governor, was accused of violating Article 21 of the APC constitution, which outlines disciplinary actions for members.
The official letter confirming his expulsion was jointly signed by Tajudeen Lawal, state chairman, and Alao Olabisi Kamoru, Secretary. This decision followed an investigation and approval by the State Executive Committee (SEC).
According to the APC, Aregbesola’s actions compromised the party’s unity and integrity. Consequently, he was warned against identifying as a member or representing the party in any capacity.
Aregbesola had previously led a faction within the APC known as The Osun Progressives, later rebranded as the Omoluabi Caucus.
In a separate development, Rotimi Amaechi joined critics of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration, advocating for Nigerians to fight for power. Amaechi emphasized that politicians, including Tinubu, would not willingly relinquish power.
He further stated that the primary objective of politicians is to maintain power by any means necessary, including stealing, maiming, and killing.
“You are talking and abusing everybody. Nobody has power and will give it to you — not even me. If you want a pastor as president, go and get one.
“The politician is there in Nigeria to steal, maim, and kill to remain in power. If you think Tinubu will give it to you, you are wasting your time,” he said.
