Chidera Ukeje, a domestic violence victim who was rescued with burns and bruises on her body, has been taken in for interrogation together with her father and stepmother.

After worried neighbors posted a request for assistance on social media, the girl’s predicament became public knowledge.

They clarified that in addition to starving her, her stepmother also beats her.

In addition, Chidera was expelled from school, which left her alone in the home where she was tortured.

Neighbors had to use a ladder to free the girl who had been imprisoned inside the house by herself while her stepmother was away because they were afraid she might not make it.

Following that, Chidera was taken to the hospital by the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency and the police, where she is currently receiving treatment.

Now, Chidera’s stepmother and father are being detained for interrogation.

Vitalis Ukeje, Chidera’s father, is charged with inciting his child’s mistreatment.

Given the severity of Chidera’s injuries, it is hard to believe that he denied any involvement and said he was unaware of the trauma his daughter was going through.

The horrifying assault is allegedly committed by Joy Ukeje, the stepmother that Vitalis Ukeje married four years ago following the death of Chidera’s mother.

Joy Ukeje will be charged in court as part of the legal actions that have been initiated.
