A pipeline manifold in the Omwawriwa community of Rivers State’s Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area has experienced another explosion.
The Tuesday night explosion was captured on camera just hours after a similar occurrence shook Shell’s Trans Niger Pipeline in Bodo, Gokana Local Government Area.
According to reports, the most recent explosion happened deep within the forest at a manifold that was connected to a federal pipeline.
Crude oil is reportedly transported to Brass, Bayelsa State, via the impacted pipeline.
Despite the lack of official evidence, local sources claimed to have seen thick smoke rising from an oil installation nearby, along with enormous flames.
The spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, has vowed to verify the event.
