The public has been warned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to be cautious of fraudulent land sellers in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
This comes as the commission detained Nwobo Williams Chibuike, who allegedly sold fake land parcels in Kurudu, Sabon Lugbe East Extension, Kpeyegyi, and Jikoyi Village Extension—all located within the Federal Capital Territory—to deceive many people.
The warning was given by EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale in a statement that was made public in Abuja on Wednesday.
According to him, “The public is hereby alerted to be wary of some of these vendors, especially itinerant land marketers around the FCT and be appropriately guided.”
Speaking on the suspected fraudulent land vendor, Chibuike, who was arrested by EFCC, Oyewale stated that investigations revealed Chibuike, “a self-styled Managing Director of C&C Realty & Construction Limited, Dream-Krest Homes and Properties Limited and Dan Faith Shelters Limited, was marketing fictitious and non-existing landed properties in several locations in the FCT.”
According to him, the suspect convinced his victims to pay N60,000,000, N24 million, and N11 million to N3.5 million for properties in the FCT’s Karsana, Pyakasa, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Katampe Extension, Guzape 2, Kuje, and other localities.
Oyewale added that the Federal Capital Development Authority, or FCDA, confirmed through EFCC inquiries that none of the locations Chibuike and his agents were marketing and selling were real.
As a result, he stated that after the investigations are over, the suspect will face charges in court.
