A Nigerian bride has described how, less than two seconds after her father’s demand, her fiancé paid the ₦10 million bride price.
In a video that was uploaded on her TikTok page, she told the tale of what transpired at her customary marriage ceremony.
According to her, the celebration comprised a meeting of elders segregated into male and female groupings.
Despite being given a list of things to bring to the family home, her fiancé chose to pay the equivalent in cash.
The family elders invited the man once the women were settled, and her father asked for ₦10 million as a wedding price.
To everyone’s astonishment, the groom paid the entire sum right away.
The moment he gave her father the money was caught on camera. In a symbolic act, the father examined the bundle, took out ₦200, and gave the remaining amount back to the groom, telling him to utilize it to meet his needs.
The soon-to-be bride described the event as follows:
“He was quoted 10 million naira. It’s common for them to call an outrageous amount for the bride price. My man handed over the cash to my father. He pulled out ₦200 and then returned the rest to take care of his daughter.”
“He paid in full, no bargaining, no negotiating.”
