After falsely declaring him deceased, a Nigerian returnee has accused United Bank for Africa (UBA) of removing ₦150 million from his account.
Gwamnishu Harrison, a human rights activist who has promised to take legal action on his behalf, made the shocking discovery during a live video conversation.
The anonymous returnee claims that the incident happened in 2023 when he was living abroad.
He clarified that he regularly made deposits into his UBA account while residing overseas, sometimes as frequently as five times a year. However, he was surprised to hear from bank officials when he returned to Nigeria that someone who purportedly claimed he was already buried and dead had taken all of his savings.
Police officers were allegedly waiting to arrest him when he went to the bank to demand an explanation. He claimed that despite being accused of creating a disturbance, he just raised his voice in shock and annoyance.
