Akindele Ayekooto, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claimed on Wednesday that Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), made former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi hungry.
Wike defeated Amaechi as the current governor of Rivers State and minister, according to Ayekooto.
He was responding to Amaechi’s statement in the interview that he wouldn’t like to get involved in problems with Wike since he is a child.
The drama began when Amaechi said that he and Nigerians are starving under President Bola Tinubu’s rule during his 60th birthday celebration in Abuja.
Wike criticized his statement, claiming that Amaechi doesn’t lack and was merely hungry for power rather than food.
Amaechi’s assertion that the former governor was his political boss was also rejected by Wike.
Ayekooto stated in a post on his Facebook page that Wike expelled Amaechi from both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party.
He wrote: “Amaechi, how can you call the man who pursued you from PDP, pursued you from APC and pursued you from Rivers politics a child? He defeated you as a sitting governor, defeated you as a sitting minister, and turned you into a hungry man.”
Former Transportation Minister Amaechi explained why he appointed Wike as his Chief of Staff and stated that he dislikes getting involved in matters involving children.
According to the former governor, he wanted to oversee Wike, which is why he appointed him his CoS.
He said that Wike had declined his request to serve as the state’s commissioner of finance.
“I wanted him (Wike) as Chief of Staff so I could supervise him,” Amaechi said.
