A “very big risk” will be taken by any politician who chooses to run against Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 governorship election, according to Mr. Chukwuma Azode, president of the Cooperative Motor Union in Abia State.

In support of the road infrastructure improvement by Otti’s administration, a number of transport unions in Abia State organized a “Two-Million Man March” on Thursday, during which he spoke.

The leader of the motor union believes that no sane person in Abia should run against Governor Otti in the upcoming governorship race given his accomplishments.

Although Azode asserted that Otti already holds the position of power till 2031, he advised those who wish to run for governor in 2027 to abandon their plans.

“From what we are seeing, I don’t think any sensible person should involve himself in anything concerning elections, because from what we are seeing, His Excellency is supposed to enjoy his eight years.

“So, for now, any opposition that is coming out is taking a big risk because we Abians are in support of His Excellency, Dr Alex Otti for now, and no other person. And all the motor union in Abia State are also endorsing His Excellency for 2027. That’s part of our gathering here today,” Azode said.

He went on to say that participants in the Million Man March came from a variety of political perspectives.

The largest beneficiaries of Otti’s road developments throughout the state, according to Victor Azubuike, chairman of the Abia State Tricycle Operators Union, or ASTOPU, are Aba transporters.
