Controversial comedian DeeOne has suggested that a lack of strong social media presence is negatively impacting the public image of some Nigerian celebrities, citing actress Genevieve Nnaji as an example.
He argued that entertainers who maintain a low profile or appear enigmatic struggle to stay relevant online and are rarely featured in trending discussions.
To illustrate his point, the former reality TV star claimed that TikTok sensation Peller currently holds more online relevance in Nigeria than Genevieve Nnaji.
Speaking in a recent episode of Pulse’s Hot Takes podcast, DeeOne said, “Genevieve not talking much on social media is not helping her. Genevieve not posting on social media every time is reducing her brand. Let me rephrase it — anybody who is not posting constantly is not top of mind.
“What makes her [Genevieve] different from other actresses? Number one from when? Since which year? Peller right now is more relevant on the internet space in Nigeria than Genevieve Nnaji.”
