Chimaobi Sam Atu, the lawmaker representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has officially switched his political allegiance from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

His move was formally communicated through a letter submitted to the House on Thursday.

During Thursday’s plenary session, Speaker Tajudeen Abbas shared the development with fellow lawmakers.

“Honourable colleagues, it’s my pleasure and privilege to inform you that our dear brother and colleague, Hon. Chimaobi Sam Atu, member representing Enugu North and South, today has sent a letter and the letter is in respect of the defection from Labour Party to the All Progressives Congress,” Abbas said.

This follows a trend earlier in the week when two other legislators also left their parties to join the APC.

Peter Akpanke, who represents Obanliku/Obudu/Bekwara Federal Constituency in Cross River State, exited the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), while Paul Nnamchi, representing Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency, also left the Labour Party to align with the ruling APC.
