Santander US has pledged $25 million to support education, employability, and entrepreneurship, with over $10 million allocated for university grants and national scholarship funding through the Santander Universities programme. This initiative aims to equip individuals with the necessary skills and resources to thrive in an evolving job market.

The funding will provide undergraduate students with access to scholarships, which can be applied for later this summer via Santander Open Academy. This platform offers complimentary educational content and upskilling tools to enhance professional skills and employability.
According to Santander’s “Tomorrow’s Skills” report, nearly 80% of Americans recognise the importance of lifelong learning for professional development. However, many feel unprepared for the rapidly changing job market, citing the cost of ongoing training as a significant barrier. Over half of the respondents believe companies should take responsibility for creating continuous education opportunities.
“The world today is vastly different than it was 10 years ago. Continuous learning is imperative to keep up with the pace of change,” stated Christiana Riley, CEO and President of Santander US. “The Santander Universities programme and Open Academy further enable us to empower people with the right skills and resources they need to succeed.
