The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has imposed a curfew on its Nsukka campus from 11 pm to 6 am in a bid to curb alleged atrocious activities that have been taking place under the cover of darkness. According to the acting chief security officer, Mr. Alumona C. S, the curfew is necessary to prevent immoral activities, crime, and other related social vices that have been perpetrated by some dissident individuals in the university.

“We are warning members of the university community, both staff and students, including visitors, to abide by the hours of the curfew to avoid any embarrassment by the security agents who are on patrol at all the nooks and crannies of the university,” Alumona said. He warned that anybody caught within the hours of the curfew would be thoroughly dealt with
The curfew also applies to churches that hold night crusades in the university. “All the churches that hold night crusades in the university should abide by the directives and put on hold such crusades till further notice,” Alumona directed. Students who are preparing for their second semester examination are also expected to comply with the curfew, as nobody in the university community has express permission to move around from 11 pm to 6 am.
