Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has warned a political group known as ADC Vanguard against spreading false statements and linking them to him.
In a message shared on his official X account on Thursday, El-Rufai made it clear that he had not made the statements being circulated and emphasized that he has his own platforms to voice his thoughts.
“Dear ADC Vanguard, please stop fabricating statements and attributing them to me. I have my own social media accounts where I can share my views and opinions.
“I am going to disown the statements you created and attributed, not because I necessarily disagree with the message, but because I never made them. That is not the honest way to represent our party or gain traction. Please stop it forthwith,” he added.
El-Rufai’s clarification followed a now-removed post by ADC Vanguard, which had quoted him as labeling President Bola Tinubu’s government as “Nigeria’s most corrupt and dishonest government” that “has mastered the act of looting shamelessly while deceiving confidently.”
After El-Rufai’s denial, the group issued an apology.
“Dear Mallam El-Rufai, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused. It was never our intention to misrepresent or attribute statements to you. We respect your voice and your platforms as the proper channels for your views,” the group said.
The group added that it would, from now on, rely solely on credible and verified sources when releasing statements. They also thanked El-Rufai for calmly and clearly addressing the matter.
