Abdulsalam, who is requesting a divorce from Saheed Adegunju, clarified that despite her repeated efforts, her husband has continuously refused to introduce her to his family.
She said in court that she had repeatedly requested that Adegunju take her to see his family, but he had always made an excuse.
Abdulsalam claims that even after she gave birth to their child, this circumstance continued.
She characterized the persistent rejection as hurtful and alienating, impacting her marriage and relationships with her family.
Additionally, Abdulsalam accused her spouse of failing to fulfill his responsibilities as a husband and father.
She clarified that Adegunju stopped carrying out his duties, leaving her to manage the majority of their child’s affairs by herself.
She mentioned that anxiety and stress had been present in her home as a result of the lack of support.
The woman claimed that as their communication deteriorated over time, the problem got worse.
Abdulsalam informed the court that she had reached a stage where she believed separation was required because efforts to settle the difficulties through dialogue had failed.
She called her attempts to keep the marriage intact a failure.
She went on to say that her wellbeing had been impacted by her husband’s actions.
Abdulsalam stated that although she had made an effort to be sympathetic and patient, living at home was challenging due to Adegunju’s constant disregard and lack of involvement.
She underlined that the decision to file for divorce was the consequence of persistent difficulties rather than an abrupt one.
Abdulsalam has repeatedly attempted to involve Adegunju in family problems, the court was told.
She said that she was unable to stay in the marriage since her spouse would not introduce her to his family or carry out his responsibilities as a husband.
She claimed that the circumstance made her feel alone and unsupported.
In her testimony, Rihanat Abdulsalam urged the court to take her situation into account and approve her plea for a separation.
She emphasized that her decision was essential for her and her child’s welfare because the issues in her marriage had not gone away despite her attempts to resolve them.
She said: “He gives excuses whenever I ask him to take me to his family, it continued until I gave birth to our child.”
