After alarming reports that a guy who was buried last week purportedly returned home—an act allegedly caught on CCTV footage—tension has arisen in the Onueke community in Ebonyi State.

The 56-year-old man, known as Mr. Nnamdi Oke, was buried in his compound on September 3rd after reportedly passing away following a brief illness. However, odd things started happening in his family’s home a few days later.

Relatives claim that they began to hear strange sounds at night. The family looked at their CCTV footage to allay their suspicions, but they were astounded by what they said they saw.

“The footage showed someone that looked exactly like Nnamdi entering the sitting room around midnight. He sat at the dining table and appeared to eat from the food left on the table. We were all shocked,” a family member said.

The community went into a panic as soon as the revelation was made public. While some residents thought the film must have been altered, others maintained it was a supernatural manifestation.

In order to ascertain the truth, traditional leaders have called in the Oke family and pledged to speak with spiritualists.

But medical professionals are still dubious. According to a doctor in Abakaliki, “Grieving families often experience hallucinations or believe they see their loved ones. Unless the footage is independently verified, it could be a trick of light or editing.”

The purported CCTV footage has already gone popular on social media, despite skepticism, and many Nigerians are vehemently disputing whether it demonstrates that the dead may actually return.

As inhabitants of the Onueke hamlet await answers to the mystery surrounding the guy who is said to have returned from the dead, anxiety still permeates the area.
