The First Lady of Abia State, Mrs. Priscilla Chidinma Otti, has appealed to men—particularly those whose partners have given birth to multiple babies not to abandon them to face the burden alone.

She made the appeal during a visit to the Federal Medical Centre in Umuahia, where she checked in on Mrs. Ehighibe, a resident of Umuabali, Umuokpara in Umuahia South LGA, who recently gave birth to quadruplets via Cesarean section.

Represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Maureen Aghukwa, Mrs. Otti emphasized that no woman should be left unsupported simply because she delivered more than one baby at once.

Mrs explained that she immediately mobilized her team to ensure that the mother and children received adequate care, describing the multiple birth as a miracle for the family and for Abia State.”

“My office is always open to support families blessed with multiple births. No woman should be left to struggle alone after bringing such joy into the world,” she declared.

Mrs. Otti also revealed that nursery facilities have already been introduced in some government establishments, with additional ones currently being built. She further encouraged mothers throughout the state to adopt exclusive breastfeeding.

Speaking on behalf of the hospital, the Head of Nursing, Mrs. Nnenna Imo, conveyed appreciation to Governor Alex Otti and his wife for their ongoing commitment to the welfare of women in Abia.

Mr. Chibueze Ehighibe, the father of the quadruplets and an employee of the Nigerian Correctional Centre in Umuahia, expressed deep gratitude to the First Lady for showing concern for his family during such a significant time.
