After disclosing that her 2-year-old daughter tested positive for HIV, a mother of three children sparked intense emotions on social media.
She expressed her anguish and perplexity in a post on X (previously Twitter), questioning how her daughter might have gotten the virus.
The post read: “I’m in pain… my heart is breaking. I’ve been married for 7 years, and I have 3 children. My 2-year-old child has been sick, vomiting, and crying nonstop.
“When I took her to the hospital, she was given medication, but nothing changed. I took her back to the hospital yesterday, and she was tested for HIV. Unfortunately, she tested positive.
“I was tested too, and I came out negative. I’m worried about how she contracted the virus. She’s only 2 years old. The other children are negative, and my husband is negative. Why her alone?”
Netizens’ reactions to the revelation were overwhelming.
Fareeda Kiri urged caution: “You did your HIV test. Respect. Now go get DNA confirmation on those kids. Peace of mind > speculation.”
Edmond expressed confusion: “Wait a minute I am really confused on what is going on here, please who can explain why just her tested positive?”
Head of State offered support:“I’m so sorry you’re going through this. I can’t imagine the fear and confusion you must be feeling right now. At just 2 years old, your daughter shouldn’t have to face something like this.
“The most important thing now is to focus on her health and getting the right treatment HIV can be managed, and with proper care, she can still live a long and healthy life.
“Stay strong, and lean on the doctors, family, and support around you. You’re not alone, and she’s lucky to have a parent who loves her so fiercely.”
Rhoda reflected on the ordeal: “This is heartbreaking. A mother is in deep pain after discovering that her 2-year-old tested HIV positive while both parents and siblings are negative.
“No parent should ever have to face this kind of confusion and fear. Strength to her during this difficult time.”
Babaken advised caution: “This is really a serious issue right here. And be grateful you and your other kids ain’t infected. After checking ur status, go for a DNA test on all your children.”
Queen Oma also questioned the situation: “This is quiet strange what could have happened? there should be a trace from when she was born and who took care of her.”
As social media users offer the mother support and guidance during her difficult journey, the message has caused a great deal of concern.
