What was supposed to be a quick visit to her cousin’s house turned into tragedy, false allegations, and nearly a year in incarceration, according to a Nigerian woman’s heartbreaking account.
In a TikTok video that has since gone viral, the woman, identified as @Awele, clarified that she had only planned to stay for three days when she went to see her cousin’s sister.
Her cousin persuaded her to stay an extra night even though she was ready to depart as scheduled; she claims that decision changed the trajectory of her life.
She disclosed that her father and her cousin’s father had a long-standing disagreement, but she emphasized that it had no bearing on their closeness and had never impacted her relationship with her cousin.
Armed thieves allegedly broke into the home that same evening and demanded their cell phones.
Her account states that she gave her phone right away, but her cousin refused, claiming she had already been robbed and didn’t want to lose another one.
Her cousin was stabbed by the assailants as the altercation quickly turned violent.
In the hopes that she would recover, they hurried her to the hospital, where she stayed for two days. Sadly, she died on the third day.
The situation took a worrisome turn instead of bringing the family together in sadness.
The woman was allegedly sent to kill their daughter due to an unsolved family dispute, according to the victim’s parents, who accused her of masterminding the crime.
She was consequently detained for 11 months after being arrested. She missed her graduation during that time, and her family struggled financially while taking out loans to support her legal defense.
She claimed that witnessing her father cry during the event was the most painful thing for her.
