Denge Josef Onoh, a former South-East spokesman for President Bola Tinubu, has requested that the All Progressives Congress (APC) immediately suspend all of its members in the Rivers State House of Assembly who are reportedly participating in attempts to remove Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Professor Ngozi Odu.
Onoh made the request in a statement given to reporters in Abuja on Sunday.
The Rivers State House of Assembly’s renewed attempt at impeachment, spearheaded by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, was characterized by the chairman of the Forum of Former Members of the Enugu State House of Assembly as legislative rascality and a planned, self-serving coup against democratic governance and constitutional order.

He continued by saying that the impeachment action, which is purportedly based on accusations of egregious wrongdoing, such as failing to produce the 2026 Appropriations Bill, ignores the fact that there is a nationally authorized budget that runs until August 2026 under previous emergency provisions.
He claims that since 2023, there have been three attempts to remove Governor Fubara; the most recent escalation took place in January 2026.
He claimed that on December 5, 2025, a few days prior to Governor Fubara’s own defection to the ruling party, the MPs in question switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.
“The simultaneous targeting of the governor and his deputy exposes a clear agenda to seize power through the back door. The APC should suspend all its lawmakers involved in this act of legislative rascality,” Onoh said.
