Chidi Odinkalu, a lawyer and activist specializing in human rights, has claimed that he narrowly avoided being abducted. He accused Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, of hypocrisy regarding his assertions of compliance with due process.

On Saturday, Odinkalu alleged this in a post on X while responding to what he termed El-Rufai’s recent public stance as a proponent of due process.

Remember that El-Rufai recently claimed that security operatives attempted to arrest him upon his return from Cairo at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

In a post, Odinkalu reacted by stating that although El-Rufai now portrays himself as a champion of legality, the events of his tenure tell a different story.

He claimed that he had never encountered a police officer who intervened upon finding plans that could have resulted in his kidnapping.

“Today, the #VileLittleMan, @elrufai, is an apostle of due process, spreading spittle from studio to studio,” Odinkalu wrote. “In my case, it was a police officer I had never met who saw what they were cooking up who made the call that almost assuredly saved me from abduction at his hands.”
