The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has directed a nationwide deployment of officers and operational resources to guarantee a peaceful and secure Eid-el-Kabir celebration across the country.

In a statement released on Wednesday by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Anthony Placid, the IGP conveyed Sallah greetings to Muslims nationwide and reiterated the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting lives and property during the festive season.

He instructed Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders in all state commands, including the Federal Capital Territory, to strengthen security operations and implement proactive policing strategies within their jurisdictions.

According to the statement, the security strategy involves the deployment of tactical squads, intelligence personnel, and conventional police officers to Eid prayer venues, highways, motor parks, recreational centres, and other public locations expected to witness heavy human traffic.

The statement further noted that the police would intensify visibility policing, joint patrol operations, surveillance activities, and intelligence-driven stop-and-search operations aimed at preventing criminal activities and ensuring swift response to security threats.

The IGP appealed to Nigerians to stay alert and assist security agencies with prompt and credible information, emphasizing that public cooperation remains vital in sustaining peace and safety during the celebrations.

He also advised residents to report suspicious individuals, objects, or movements around public gathering areas, stressing that every reliable piece of information could help avert security breaches.

The police assured Nigerians of adequate security presence across the country and reaffirmed their dedication to maintaining law and order throughout the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
