Manchester City have dismissed reports suggesting Erling Haaland could leave the club for Real Madrid this summer due to a contractual clause.

The Premier League champions were reacting to comments made by Enrique Riquelme, one of the candidates contesting for the Real Madrid presidency.

Riquelme had promised to sign both Haaland and Rodri for the Santiago Bernabeu if elected.

He specifically alleged that Haaland’s current contract contains a release clause.

However, Manchester City released a statement insisting that “the stories which have emerged from Spain regarding the future of Erling Haaland are false.

“There is no chance of this happening and there is no contractual clause to enable it.

“We are considering legal action for the use of our player image in this context.”
