Nollywood actress Nancy Isime has opened up about her personal approach to Christianity, revealing why she believes her faith journey differs from that of many Nigerian believers.
The actress made the disclosure during a recent appearance on a media programme hosted by Jay On-Air.
Speaking during the interview, Isime explained that she does not consider herself a conventional Nigerian Christian in the way many people might expect.
According to the movie star, she does not rely solely on pastors or priests for spiritual guidance, choosing instead to place significant trust in her personal convictions and intuition while following the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Despite this approach, she clarified that there are respected spiritual figures whose teachings continue to inspire and influence her faith journey.
Isime mentioned that she has a number of spiritual references and mentors from whom she learns, citing Joshua Selman as one of the individuals she regards as an important source of inspiration and learning.
“I don’t serve mortals. So, I don’t have the need to perform for mortals. And I would always have a mind of my own. I would always do my own thing. I would always figure out God for myself.
“But of course, I have anchors, whom I listen to; preachers like Apostle Joshua Selman. When you understand the kind of preachers I listen to, you will understand where I am coming from. I am not your typical Nigerian Christian, and I don’t want to be. I have my own mindset just like Jesus,” she explained.
Her comments have since generated conversations about personal faith, spirituality, and the different ways individuals choose to express and practice their beliefs.
