Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, is reportedly considering moves for either John Stones or Ezri Konsa following the injury setback suffered by William Saliba.

Saliba is expected to spend a significant period on the sidelines after deciding against undergoing surgery for the back injury he sustained while representing France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 25-year-old centre-back will instead undergo a lengthy rehabilitation programme as he works towards recovery.

Stones is currently available on a free transfer after leaving Manchester City upon the expiration of his contract.

The 32-year-old previously worked under Arteta during the Spaniard’s spell as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.

Konsa, who featured for England alongside Stones at the World Cup, remains under contract with Aston Villa for another two years.

Both defenders are also capable of playing at right-back, making them versatile options for the Gunners.
