Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, has reportedly approved the club’s plans to make a move for Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi.
According to TEAMtalk, Zubimendi has once again emerged as a transfer target for the Spanish giants this summer.
The 27-year-old midfielder joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad last year after the Gunners agreed a €65 million deal for his services.
Zubimendi played an important role in Arsenal’s Premier League title-winning campaign, although his involvement declined considerably towards the end of the season.
The midfielder started only one of Arsenal’s final matches, including the Champions League final, with Myles Lewis-Skelly preferred in the middle of the pitch.
His reduced playing time has reportedly raised concerns within Zubimendi’s camp, particularly following the arrival of Bruno Guimaraes at the Emirates.
There are now growing fears that the Spanish midfielder may no longer occupy the central role in Mikel Arteta’s plans that he had initially anticipated.
Mourinho, meanwhile, is keen to strengthen his midfield options at Real Madrid after the club missed out on Rodri.
The Portuguese coach is therefore believed to view Zubimendi as a potential addition to his squad ahead of the new season.
