Portugal head coach, Jorge Jesus, has maintained that he will not apologise to Cristiano Ronaldo following their recent disagreement.

Ronaldo reportedly left the national team camp after Jesus kept him on the bench for the entire 90 minutes of Portugal’s UEFA Nations League encounter against Croatia.

The 72-year-old coach has, however, accepted responsibility for his tactical choices and the outcomes of the matches.

“I take responsibility for the decision and for what happened,” Jesus said.“But apologise for what? To whom? That is a lie. Apologise for what? What was there to apologise for?”

“What mattered was Portugal winning once again against one of the best national teams in Europe at the moment.”
