The Kwara State chapter of the Accord Party has predicted that the Rainbow Coalition led by Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike will fail to secure votes in the state during the 2027 general elections.

The party made its position known in a statement issued on Sunday by its State Publicity Secretary, Olamilekan Esinrogunjo.

Esinrogunjo argued that the coalition lacked grassroots support and had no clearly defined message capable of winning the confidence of voters.

He maintained that the alliance appeared to be motivated by the personal interests and rivalries of a handful of political leaders rather than a common vision for governance.

The Accord Party also questioned the coalition’s stance on the 2027 presidential and governorship elections, expressing concern over its reported plan to oppose the government in Kwara State while supporting President Bola Tinubu at the federal level.

According to the party, the apparent contradiction could undermine the coalition’s credibility and make it difficult for voters to understand its political position.

“You cannot claim to be opposition in Kwara and, at the same time, ask the same people to support the APC at the presidential level.

That contradiction is one of the fundamental problems of the Rainbow Coalition.”
