Kenneth Omeruo, a defender for the Super Eagles playing in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cote d’Ivoire, has shared the reasons behind the team’s success thus far.

According to ZINGTIE, the three-time African champions advanced to the 2023 AFCON semi-final in Cote d’Ivoire after defeating Angola 1-0 on Friday.

Despite the Super Eagles’ impressive performance during the campaign, the Kasampasa defender stated he is not getting ahead of himself.

Nigeria defeated Angola to complete a four-game winning streak without giving up a goal.

In the fifth minute of stoppage time, Omeruo was substituted for Ademola Lookman by Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro.

Omeruo told reporters in the mixed zone: “I feel good; there is still work to be done, but I’m happy we could win this game because there was a lot of talk from the media and all, but we stayed concentrated. We kept to our game plan, and at the end of the day, we won.”

Based in Turkey, the defender responded, “The unity between us and the tactics of the coach,” when asked why the team is performing well so far.
