The key officers of the National Assembly will travel to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, to support the Nigerian squad in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations ahead of their pivotal quarterfinal matchup against the Palancas Negras of Angola.

Senator Kawu Sumaila, the Senate Committee on Sports chairman, disclosed this information to reporters on Wednesday in Abuja.

Remember that the Super Eagles advanced to the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium quarterfinals after defeating the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in round 16.

In addition to the key officers, he said, the joint sports committees of the National Assembly will also go to Abidjan to cheer on the Super Eagles.

“I am happy with the performance of the Nigerian team at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations.

“The principal officers of the National Assembly and the two Committees on Sports will also be in Cote d’Ivoire to watch the quarter finals with Angola,” Sumaila said.

Speaking on the fate of the coach of the Super Eagles, Jose Peseiro, the lawmaker said “we will look at it after the competition, am sure of victory for the Super Eagles against Angola”.
