Arsenal legend Ian Wright has backed midfielder Declan Rice to claim the Ballon d’Or this season.
Wright stated that if Arsenal secure both the Premier League title and the UEFA Champions League trophy, Rice should be awarded the prestigious individual honour.
He made this known while speaking on the Stick to Football podcast ahead of Arsenal’s league clash with Newcastle United.
“If Arsenal win the Premier League, Declan Rice has to win Premier League POTY,” Wright said.
“And if Arsenal win the Champions League. Rice should also win the Ballon d’Or.”
Rice joined Arsenal from West Ham United in 2023 for what was then a Premier League record transfer fee of £105 million.
The 27-year-old has featured in over 150 matches for the North London side, scoring 21 goals and providing 31 assists.
