With the UEFA Champions League final set to take place in Budapest this Saturday, the Opta Supercomputer has released its prediction for the highly anticipated clash between PSG and Arsenal.

According to The Analyst, the Opta Supercomputer has handed defending champions PSG a 56 per cent chance of retaining the Champions League title, while Arsenal are believed to have a 44 per cent possibility of completing a remarkable double.

Europe’s most coveted club trophy will be on the line in Budapest on Saturday as one of the continent’s most dangerous attacking sides faces one of its strongest defensive teams.

PSG are aiming to become the first side apart from Real Madrid to successfully defend the Champions League title in the modern UCL era, while Arsenal are hoping to join a select group of English clubs to win both the Premier League and the European crown in the same campaign.

PSG forward Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has emerged as a key figure in this season’s knockout rounds, recording the highest goal involvements among all players with 10 contributions. He is also the first player to score or assist in seven straight Champions League knockout appearances within a single season.

Historically, only three English clubs have managed to lift both the league title and the European Cup or Champions League in the same season. Liverpool achieved the feat in 1976-77 and 1983-84, Manchester United repeated it in 1998-99 and 2007-08, while Manchester City accomplished it in 2022-23.

Arsenal, who recently secured the Premier League title, will now attempt to become the fourth English club to enter that exclusive list as they prepare for their first Champions League final appearance in 20 years.

Meanwhile, PSG are hoping to make history by becoming the first team outside Real Madrid to defend the trophy since the competition was rebranded as the Champions League in 1992-93. Real Madrid notably won it three consecutive times between 2015-16 and 2017-18.

Saturday’s final at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest is expected to produce a thrilling battle between the reigning champions and ambitious challengers, with both sides still relatively inexperienced at the highest level of European club football.
