Chelsea have been urged to consider parting ways with midfielder Enzo Fernandez if he remains determined to leave during the current summer transfer window.

The advice came from former Chelsea player Jody Morris, who believes the Blues should take advantage of the situation and sell the Argentine international sooner rather than later.

Fernandez has reportedly continued to cast uncertainty over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge in recent months.

The 25-year-old midfielder, who arrived at Chelsea from Benfica in 2023, is also said to be interested in a move to Real Madrid.

Earlier in April, Fernandez received a two-match suspension from Chelsea after expressing his desire to live in Madrid and hinting at a possible switch to the Spanish giants.

Despite the speculation surrounding his future, reports indicate that Chelsea are unwilling to sanction his departure unless a substantial offer of £120 million is made for the former Benfica midfielder.

“If someone doesn’t want to pay that price for a player, then he stays. Enzo was one of the few Chelsea players last season who could earn a passing grade, and there were not many who did,” Morris told Boyle Sports.

“My consistent stance is: if someone doesn’t want to stay at the club, let him go. Letting him go doesn’t mean letting him leave cheaply.

“If someone doesn’t want to stay at Chelsea, I would rather they leave, regardless of their performance or how much you like the player.

“I think most coaches or managers would have the same view. Owners would be different because they have to consider value for money.”
