Fuel prices are expected to surge at Nigerian retail stations starting July 1, 2025, according to projections by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC). The chamber’s Chief Executive, Dr. Riverson Oppong, revealed that petrol prices may increase by 2%, while diesel prices could jump by 5%. Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is also expected to see a 1% price hike.

“Even before the implementation of the amended Energy Sector Levy which has been suspended, our projections indicate that pump prices may be going up,” Dr. Oppong said at a news conference. “I can say petrol is likely to go up by 2 percent, LPG may witness a little above 1 percent and Diesel will likely increase by 5 percent. This is after taking all factors into consideration, including NPA price build-ups.
This price increase would mark the first hike since February 2025. COMAC is also calling for a review of the petroleum downstream sector regulations to ensure cost-effective operations.
Projected Price Increases:
– Petrol: 2% increase
– Diesel: 5% increase
– LPG: 1% increase
