A High Court in Sokoto State has sentenced three individuals, including a foreign national, to death by hanging.
The judgment followed their conviction on charges related to terrorism and the illegal proliferation of arms.
The convicted persons, identified as Yusuf Muhammad, also known as Sallau, a citizen of Niger Republic, alongside Jabbi Alhaji Yalle and Kabiru Muhammad, were arrested on June 13, 2025.
They were taken into custody by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS, Counter Terrorism Unit over allegations linked to cross-border crimes involving terrorism and arms trafficking.
The matter, filed under case number SS/45c/2026, was heard before Justice Muhammad Nuraddeen Bello of High Court No. 23 in Sokoto.
Delivering his verdict, Justice Bello found the three defendants guilty on all counts brought against them and subsequently sentenced them to death by hanging.
The court also directed that all cash exhibits recovered from the convicts be forfeited to the Federal Government.
“The conviction is the latest in a series of successful prosecutions by the DSS in its sustained operations against terrorism and organised cross-border criminal networks across Nigeria,” Justice Bello said.
