The complete cost of the deceased person’s funeral has been covered by the advertising business whose billboard crashed and killed an Aba resident a few weeks ago, according to the Abia State Advertising and Signage Agency, ABSAA.

Additionally, according to ABSAA, the business is in advanced talks with the state government about compensating the injured individuals and other parties impacted.

In a press release, ABSAA’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Victoria Dibunma Onwubiko, stated that her organization did not ignore its obligations or desert the victims as some had alleged.

As the government organization in charge of overseeing outdoor advertising, she pointed out that ABSAA has been working nonstop behind the scenes, interacting with the owners of the collapsed building, who she claimed have been completely collaborating with the agency and other pertinent authorities.

“So far, they have offset the full cost of the burial of the deceased and entered into advanced discussions with the Government regarding compensation for the injured and other affected parties”, Onwubiko said.

Her office is stepping up inspections, enforcing structural audits, and working to remove any unapproved or potentially dangerous installations, she said, adding that ABSSAA is also examining existing billboard structures throughout Abia State to guarantee strict compliance with safety regulations.

She also mentioned that her agency’s staff assisted in the rescue and hospitalization of the injured victims.

“Our priority is and will always be, the safety of lives and property in Abia State.

“In due course, we will provide the public with a detailed report on the outcome of our engagements and the steps being taken to ensure justice and reform”, the ABSAA Managing Director said.
