Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Damini Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has surpassed fellow Nigerian star Tems to become the African artiste with the highest number of entries on the Billboard U.S. Hot 100 chart.

The two artistes had previously shared the record with eight entries each, but Burna Boy moved ahead following his collaboration with Shakira on the official World Cup anthem, ‘Dai Dai.’

The track made its debut at number 75 on the chart this week, increasing Burna Boy’s total number of Billboard Hot 100 entries to nine, the highest by any African artiste.

‘Dai Dai’ received renewed attention after Burna Boy and Shakira delivered a performance of the song during the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup.

The achievement also makes Burna Boy the first African musician to record at least one Billboard Hot 100 entry in six consecutive years.

His Billboard Hot 100 appearances over the years include Loved By You in 2021, Last Last in 2022, Sittin’ On Top Of The World and Talibans II in 2023, Just Like Me and We Pray in 2024, WGFT in 2025, as well as Only You and Dai Dai in 2026.
