I still live with the betrayal, wondering how a stranger managed to destroy the trust in my home so quickly.

I later discovered the worst truth after catching my housemaid in bed with my son.

Our new housemaid, Bisi, was the answer to my prayers when I employed her. She appeared to work hard and was quiet and courteous.

I gushed about her to my friends for months, even stating that I was fortunate to have her. However, I was unaware that she was gradually destroying my family.

Small adjustments were the first: my husband started returning home earlier than normal, and my 19-year-old son abruptly began spending more time at home rather than with his friends. I didn’t give it much thought until I got home early from work one afternoon.

As it turned out, Bisi had been having affairs with both of them for months while they were competing with one another for money and presents. My house turned into a battleground.

My husband avoided looking at me, my son refused to talk to me, and Bisi went without feeling guilty, but not before circulating rumors throughout the neighborhood.
