Ali Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Leader of Iran, stated that his nation showed its strength during the strike on Israel, regardless of the number of people it managed to kill.

Iran had attacked Israel with drones and missiles two weeks prior as payback for the April 1 attack on its embassy in Damascus, Syria.

However, the Israeli defence system intercepted the majority of the drones and missiles.

Khamenei did, however, laud Iran’s armed forces for their attack on Israel.

Speaking on Sunday, he said: “How many missiles were launched and how many of them hit their target is not the primary question; what really matters is that Iran demonstrated its power during that operation.

“In the recent operation, the armed forces managed to minimise costs and maximise gains,” Khamenei added, urging military officials to “ceaselessly pursue military innovation and learn the enemy’s tactics.”

However, there were numerous explosions over the Iranian city of Isfahan in the early hours of Friday, which many took to be an Israeli counterattack.
