Israel has targeted and killed an Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) operative in Tehran, according to reports from Israeli media, according to a Jerusalem Post story. The operator allegedly participated in the planning of assaults against Jews in Germany, intensifying the already existing hostilities between Iran and Israel.

The incident occurred on Monday. Israeli media outlets picked up the story after the Iran International correspondent did. This most recent development occurs against increased insecurity in the region, as the two countries have been fighting a protracted shadow war.

The name of the IRGC member remains undisclosed to the public. It is reported that the operative played a significant role in the Iranian regime’s attempts to target Jewish communities abroad. Israel has made it quite evident that it will not accept any further threats against its nationals, and the death of this person is considered a serious setback to Iran’s clandestine activities.

Given that Iran and Israel have both threatened to retaliate for any perceived aggression, the incident is likely to exacerbate the already unstable situation in the Middle East.
