A final-year student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State, has died by suicide due to emotional distress following a failed relationship. The deceased, Arobo Precious, a Higher National Diploma II student, was found dead in a bush near his residence last week.

Before his death, Precious posted a video with a caption that read, “Eniayewu Opeyemi was the one who got me into this people say there is still life out there but to me there is nothing anymore.” This suggests that his emotional distress was linked to the failed relationship
The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the incident. According to the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Olayinka Alayande, “Yes, I can confirm to you that a case of suicide was reported at about 2200hrs on the 18th of June, 2025 at the B Division Police Station Owo.” The police team found the lifeless body with a rope believed to have been used in the commission of the act.

The body has been deposited at the Federal Medical Center’s morgue for preservation and autopsy. The incident has raised concerns about mental health and the impact of failed relationships on young people.
