The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has again maintained that he emerged victorious in the 2023 presidential contest.
Obi stated that Nigerians should focus less on evidence and more on the fact that he believes he secured the highest mandate but was not officially announced as the winner.
The former governor of Anambra State made the assertion during an interview with broadcaster Rufai Oseni, where he reflected on the outcome of the last general election.
According to him, history and due process would eventually acknowledge what transpired during the poll.
“Do you know that in the last election I won? Forget about the proof, they didn’t declare me.
“I have contested elections in Nigeria as a presidential candidate and won, leave what’s declared because one day the story will be told.
“For now, I can tell you that I’m offering myself for the general election in Nigeria. One day, the process will recognise it.”
Obi further indicated that his focus remains on future political engagements, expressing readiness to once again seek the support of Nigerians in the next presidential election.
The former Labour Party presidential flag bearer participated in the 2023 election, where the official results placed him behind President Bola Tinubu and the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
