President Bola Tinubu has reflected on the tough experiences he faced on his path to becoming Nigeria’s President.
Tinubu made the disclosure on Friday in Lagos while receiving members of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, led by Vice President Kashim Shettima, during a Sallah homage at his residence.
The President appreciated some governors who joined him from the early stages of his political journey and commended them for their perseverance and loyalty.
Speaking during the visit, Tinubu acknowledged the sacrifices, pressure and challenges he encountered before attaining the nation’s highest office.
He noted that the journey to the presidency was far from easy, describing it as one filled with serious struggles and intense battles.
The President also thanked those who stood by him throughout the process, praising their patience, support and determination.
“Instead of dodging the bullet, I took it. I took a punch in the chin, a very hard one.
“We stuck together the time I faced the challenge of trying to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“It was very challenging. It was tough for those who were with me. Some kept faith.
“I decided to take the effort to campaign. I didn’t disclose to anybody what I would do. Many of you took the risk and went ahead with me because of the party platform and everything,” he said.
