After serving a seven-year prison term, former kidnap kingpin Hamisu Bala has been granted his freedom.

In 2019, Bala also referred to as Wadume, was charged with a police inspector and other suspects.

The federal high court, chaired by Justice Binta Nyako, jailed the suspects in July 2019. The suspects were charged with thirteen counts by the office of the then Attorney General of the Federation.

Wadume, a free man, landed at his rural home in Taraba State’s Ibi local government council on the weekend.

The people welcomed him heroically, according to the ZINGTIE.

According to an anonymous source, “the youths and elders trooped out to receive Wadume by the riverside and from there he went through the town before retiring to his house.”

A further source, identified only as Ismaila, claimed that the council was in a celebratory mood on the day Wadume served out his jail sentence.

According to rumours, Wadume invaded the palace of Alhaji Salihu Danbawuro, the Chief of Ibi, upon his arrival and lavished praise on the king, whom he claimed had stayed by him steadfastly throughout his experience.
