Salem University, Lokoja, celebrated its 18th anniversary with a grand ceremony at the Chapel of Peace. Prof. Alewo Johnson-Akubo, the Vice Chancellor, praised the founder, Archbishop Sam Amaga, for his foresight in establishing the institution. According to Johnson-Akubo, “Salem University is a miracle God performed through Archbishop Sam Amaga, the founder. A forest transformed by God through him.”

The Vice Chancellor commended the founder’s vision, saying, “Here in Salem University, we raise change agents and global leaders in conformity with the vision of the founder, born 18 years ago. This is what we are celebrating this time around.” He encouraged students to be forward-thinking, focused, innovative, and courageous, adding that “time is of the essence to inspire others.

Johnson-Akubo advised students to be open-minded, receptive to ideas, and to utilize their time wisely, stating, “Don’t be narrow-minded but be receptive to ideas because your mind is a gate. Salem University is not about the certificate, but your mind, spirit, and future.” He prayed for the founder’s longevity and prosperity.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof. Sunday Okpanachi, also spoke, noting that Salem University has overcome its challenges and achieved victories through God’s intervention. He said, “Salem University has not only put behind her most challenging times, but has also seen most victories brought about by God
