After being suspended due to a highly traumatic blackmail situation involving her leaked Nood images, a female student at the University of the Niger, Iyienu, in Anambra State, has reportedly been attacked and publically humiliated by campus security.

A video of the young woman, only known as “Alaka,” being violently dragged out by security guards has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread condemnation of the upsetting incident that occurred on July 18.

A male student who had access to Alaka’s private photos is accused of blackmailing her, according to online sources and eyewitness reports. The pictures were subsequently leaked to his pals and shared across the campus community, despite him being exploited financially and emotionally.

According to reports, Alaka bravely informed school officials about the occurrence. But instead of disciplining the accused blackmailer, the university suspended Alaka for a year, which led to charges of victim-blaming and institutional failure.

Alaka reportedly begged for permission to leave the school grounds the next day after being traumatized by the incident. Three security guards allegedly mistreated her rather than showing her sympathy or providing her with safety. According to witnesses, she was brutally ejected from the school like a criminal after being battered and thrown to the ground.

The outrage of those who have followed the story was expressed by a concerned internet commenter who said, “This is not just misconduct—this is abuse, this is injustice.”

The university’s handling of the matter has come under heavy fire, especially for suspending the victim while reportedly failing to discipline the male student who was involved in the sharing of private material and blackmail.

In addition to demanding justice for Alaka and suitable penalties against those accountable for her attack and the institutional indifference, human rights advocates and student organizations are now demanding an independent investigation into the case.

The administration of the university has not yet released an official statement regarding the incident as of the time of writing.
