The family of late Nollywood actor and comedian, John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has spoken about the hardship they have experienced since his passing.

The revelation was made during a recent visit by content creator King Mitchy, during which family members shared details of their current living conditions.

According to the family, Mr Ibu’s only daughter and his two sons have been forced to suspend their education due to financial difficulties.

They also disclosed that they have been living without electricity and running water for several weeks because they have been unable to settle the necessary bills.

The children’s mother explained that surviving after the actor’s death has become increasingly challenging.

“We fetched water from the well because I have not paid the house rent, they even cut my light since two months now, no light since we have been like that every night we go to look for where to charge our phones and it’s not easy,” she said.

Appealing to Nigerians for assistance, Mr Ibu’s daughter commended her mother for her sacrifices and efforts toward the family’s welfare.

“I want to thank God for my mom,, and she tried everything she can to feed us, pay our school, fees make us happy.

“So Nigerians if you were in the industry with my dad, you’re seeing us now come and meet us,” she pleaded.

The children’s mother, while struggling to hold back tears, also disclosed that the school authorities recently contacted her over the unpaid school fees of the children.

It would be recalled that Mr Ibu underwent the amputation of one of his legs in November 2023 after battling an illness that required multiple surgical procedures.

The veteran actor later passed away in Lagos on March 2, 2024, at the age of 62 following a cardiac arrest.
